LVA Review

It was recently brought to our attention that LOCAL CORNER is distinctly west-side biased. Guilty as charged. One reason is because our office is located on the west side (of the Strip). But we also believe that there are more options on the west, not the least of reasons being that it’s the side with Chinatown on it. But since we were called out, we went east this month. As you can tell from the name, rotisserie chicken is the main event. It’s served with rice and beans or fries and salad and goes $6.50 for a quarter, $9 for a half, or $16.50 for a whole. This is good chicken at a good price, but we’re partial to this place for another reason: the ceviche. It’s the real deal, with chunks of “premier” sea bass served with a slice of potato, corn on the cob, and toasted corn on the side ($10). This is as authentic a Peruvian style as any ceviche we’ve had in town (and we try them all). Another fave is chicken quinoa soup for $4, and if you buy a whole chicken on Tuesdays, a bowl of soup comes with it. Other native dishes, including “Peruvian breakfast” on the weekends, are also available to eat in or take out. Peru Chicken is located on Tropicana Ave., about a mile east of the airport in an interesting little plaza with a Salvadorian and a Cuban restaurant on either side (both future LOCAL CORNER fodder). Hours are 11 am-10 pm weekdays, 9-10 on Saturdays, and 9-8 on Sundays.
