The Rampart Buffet draws patrons from Summerlin, Sun City, and Peccole Ranch in the western valley and competes head-on against Suncoast right next door. Its pricing is a little higher than Suncoast's and it only serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. All-you-can drink beer & wine is available for an additional $7.99.
Other than typical middle-of-the-road smorgy fare, it does offer wood-fired pizza, rotisserie chicken, and a coffee machine.
The most unusual specialty is Monday Deli Night, with all kinds of great kosher-style dishes: matzoh-ball soup, corned beef, pastrami, lox, whitefish salad, potato knishes and latkes, brisket, kosher hot dogs, noodle kugel, even Dr. Browns soda. This one attracts a lot of New York transplants; you'll think you're back in Scarsdale.

The menu for this weekly spread at the Rampart includes poke, edamame, kimchee, pot stickers, mac & cheese, spam fries, chicken curry, turkey in tea leaf, kalbi short ribs, Alaea Hawaiian sea salt rubbed prime rib, char siu pork loin, lau lau and kalua pork, and multiple choices of fish, fried and steamed. It’s a good line-up of Island tastes, but like almost all Hawaiian buffets in Las Vegas, it’s hit or miss. The fish selections are underwhelming, including the taco and lomi lomi salmon poke. Better than expected are the bean & cabbage and chicken long-rice soups. We also liked the the lau lau pork, and there’s a good mix of salads and a big dessert selection with coconut haupia, lilikoi sponge cake, and hand-scooped ice creams. While not worth a special trip, it’s a good enough deal at $15.99, $13.99 with a players card or $8 with your MRB coupon.

Though not kosher, Rampart’s Thursday specialty night is about as authentic a Jewish buffet as you’ll ever eat; whoever came up with the selections knows a lot about the food. This is the only buffet in town where you’ll get chicken livers, noodle kugel, gefilte fish, knishes, and pickled herring, and the quality is surprisingly high. High marks also go to the carved brisket, beef short ribs, latkes, corned beef, matzo-ball soup, smoked whitefish salad, and rugelach, while the holiptshes (stuffed cabbage) and pastrami are passable. The salad bar completes the theme, with creamy horseradish (for the brisket), applesauce/sour cream (for the latkes), mustard (for the knish and cold cuts), and seeded rye (for the makings of fat sandwiches). Members of the Lost Tribes also appreciate good Chinese foo —they’re the only restaurants open on Christmas—so there’s a large selection, with shrimp (fried rice and kung pao), barbecued pork ribs, and seafood stir fry. For goyim, the cioppino is excellent and the baked salmon, chicken (rotisserie and cacciatore), pizza, and spaghetti and meatballs fill the bill. Dessert includes bread pudding with whiskey and caramel sauces and a dozen handscooped ice creams (the spumoni gets raves). The buffet is $18.99, but use your 50%-off MRB voucher and it’s a steal at just $10.28 after tax.
