Red Plate is the new Cantonese restaurant that opened in mid-October 2018 in the former C.O.C.G Enoteca wine-bar and pizza space on the third floor of the Cosmopolitan.
The name comes from an ancient Chinese practice of different color plates indicating a person's rank in society; red plates symbolized the highest status of the royal families. The restaurant has a collection of 50 such red plates from around the world, dating from the early 1800s to the 1940s.
Menu highlights include roasted meats, such as filet mignon, braised spareribs, and New Zealand lamb; whole Peking duck, suckling pig, and abalone; Chinese hot pot; handmade dim sum; and live seafood like geoduck, rock cod, sea bass, king and Dungeness crab, and Maine lobster.
