This restaurant was reviewed in the October 2006 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. The Venetian’s Tao is all the rage these days as one of the town’s top nightclubs, but it’s also a big trendy restaurant specializing in Pan-Asian cuisine. The best play is to stick with appetizers from start to finish—sample, sample, sample, then reorder what you like best if you’re still hungry. They’re not big portions, so be prepared to select several. We went with hot & sour soup ($9); pork roll ($11); lobster tempura ($12); crispy tuna, tuna tartar, and Thai shrimp ($14 each); satay bass and yellowtail tuna with jalapeño ($15 each); and wonton lobster ($16). This was plenty for three of us. Adding a $19 sake from the extensive sake selection and two $46 bottles of chardonnay (the dry Cloudybay is a good choice with this fare, which tends to be on the sweet side) brought the tab to $269 after tax, though the appetizers alone came to $150. While we don’t often mention service, it was especially good here, adding to the overall positive experience.
