Still in Shock

Over the ending of the 5-year HBO series “Big Love.”  I am a writer and routinely look for foreshadowing – but this one hit me unexpectedly – right in the gut.  Up to five minutes before the end of the show I kept asking myself how they could possiblly “tie up the ends” in such a short time left.   Were they going to use a cliff-hanger in order to leave it open for possible  future episodes returning?

 Nope!

Off topic a bit – although the family did run a casino at one time!!

  1. Polygamy is a perversion of a perfectly good idea (polyamory). I could say lots more but I will let this be enough.

Big Love: I hated the ending. It did close up all the holes, and left Bill dead at the hands of a fellow Mormon. I’m not sure what they were trying to get across here. Were they saying these people were ALL zealots and problems? It just saddens me. I’m not Mormon, but I’m not against polygamy. I don’t understand what the problem is. They blame the disolution of polygamy on underage marriages, but that’s got to be just a cover. I read once that polygamy was stopped because it allowed a man to gain too much wealth and political power if he had the income and assistance of five to ten wives with jobs and their children with jobs. It allowed him to acquire too much realty and holdings. That scared people. And that makes sense. I also read it was because divorces became too complicated. But that doesn’t make sense. Divorce is a money making business. More wives is more divorces and more money. Who cares if it’s a two-way, or three-way or ten-way relationship? It’s their “GAMBLE” not ours. Honestly, I’d love having three different husbands taking care of me!
