Casino Benefit Changes

We will soon be left with a large – and useless – collection of tokens for the Palms car wash.  It is closing the end of the month.  Brad will really miss it – he likes to keep the Frugal Breeze spanking clean and shiny.  If you see us in a casino, ask for some tokens – Brad will carry some in his pocket and I’ll have some in my purse.  However, I’m not counting on it being operational right to the end of June.  It always broke down frequently – and I can’t see them spending money to repair it if it breaks down now.

Lots of other changes at the Palms.  We won’t miss the Playboy Club which has closed but we will miss Gardunos.  No date has been set yet for that announced closure but it is coming.   The Earl of Sandwich is scheduled to open July 4, in the former Kids Quest area of the Food Court.

Ellis Island sure can make additions in tiny spaces.  They tucked a new sandwich shop  in a small nook that in the past has seen a small band playing and more recently tournaments held.  And some seating has been removed in the little sports book to make room for a couple of poker tables.

Now for some good news – and some lost faith restored:  If enough people complain a casino might give back some benefits they have taken away.  Caesars Entertainment has brought back the Tier Benefit for Vegas shows, and not just for Seven Stars.  Both Seven Stars and Diamonds can receive 2 free show tickets per month,  and Platinums will be entitled to a Buy-One-Get-One-Free for one show per calendar month.

I wrote to Caesars. Here are the shows you can see being Diamond and it looks like it starts right away!

Thank you for contacting the Flamingo! Yes! I’m delighted to tell you that the show benefits are back! As in the past, you have one benefit redemption per calendar month. For your convenience I have listed all the show benefits below:

Harrah’s: Defending the Caveman, The Improv, Legends in Concert, Mac King

Imperial Palace: Jeff Civilico, Frank Marino’s Divas, Human Nature

    Flamingo: Nathan Burton, Vinnie Favorito

    Bally’s: Jubilee

    Paris: Anthony Cools, Empire Comedy

    Rio: Penn and Teller

Wow – I was one who complained to Caesars Entertainment about taking away the show tickets. I purposely book a week over 2 months to see 2 shows being a Diamond player. When was this reinstated as I am headed there at the end of the month.

A very good promotion is in effect at Stations: for June, play on Monday or Tuesday earns food comps, at the “outlying” casinos at least (i.e., Fiesta Henderson and Santa Fe). They may be doing this at other Stations locations as well (for instance, I think I saw it at Aliante), but it’s a very recent development so I recommend that you check out the casino websites. What is unusual about this promo is how much you get: 300 points gets you a $5 food voucher. Stations is now $1 coin-in=3 points, so this is a 5% (!!) rebate. The best part is that a player can earn up to five $5 vouchers/day. So you can play $500 on negative VP and get a $25 food comp, or play $2000 on positive VP and get the same. And the 99.8% and 99.9% games earn points at the regular rate, so they might be a better play than the +EV games for the purposes of this promo. A couple playing for about 45 minutes can earn a nice dinner for two, or about 20 minutes of play can get enough for a buffet.
The frequent double points days at Stations also elevate the 99.8/.9% games almost to the level of FPDW or FPJW. The trend for Stations over the years has been to be very aggressive with promos in the summer, since they are fighting over a diminished customer base that time of year.

The Earl of Sandwich! Woohoo! My wife and I love this place. We hit it every time we go to Downtown Disney on our Florida trips. Definitely now on our list for our August trip to the the Palms. Thanks for the info Jean!
Hopefully, we’ll run into while we are in town. You guys are our Frugal Inspiration.
