Can’t be December already – seems like 2013 just arrived. Time flies faster and faster the older you get!
House Seats 2-for-1 offer expires tonight at midnight. A good frugal option if you like to see a lot of shows. http://www.houseseats.com/
PALMS
Hurrah! “Play, Earn, and Win” offers gift cards rather than “stuff” this month. Same days as usual – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays – but only through December 23rd. The mailer mentions these gift cards: Visa, Rebel Gas, McDonald’s, and Coffee Bean.
The usual drawings continue all month on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. Again you can earn 5x drawing entries from 8 p.m. until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Hummmm…the big dilemma. Play for the sure bonus of gift cards on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – or, play on Friday and Saturday nights for a not-so-sure drawing win? Can you compare the estimated EV? Do you like to “gamble”?
The “Play and Buffet” promotion continues on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but holidays are excluded.
We have noticed that the car wash seems to be open and working more often recently. So remember to ask for your car wash tokens at the slot club – All Star card holders get one per month, MVP’s and Hall of Famers get two.
The long-running free Megabucks pulls are now called Palms Power Pull. “Use on your favorite machines throughout the Palms.” (I asked about this at the promotion desk Friday and they said you could not use the vouchers on VP, just slots. You will need to confirm this on December 2!) The time to get your voucher at the Promotions Desk is still 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., but the days are only Mondays and Wednesdays – NOT also on Fridays as before.
December 5-9 bring a new unwrapped toy worth $10 or more to Club Palms and you will get $10 in free slot play. Valid once per day.
ELLIS ISLAND
Hurrah! You can again choose pizza OR a half Boardhouse sub with your Tuesday and Saturday coupons in December.
Gift days continue on Sundays.
End of the Year Cash Drawings on December 31 at 3,5,7,9 p.m.
Homemade Eggnog: $6 per glass, $29.95 per bottle
BOYD PROPERTIES (Gold Coast, Suncoast, Orleans, Sam’s Town)
There is still talk that we will have to start swiping our slot cards at a kiosk before playing in order to get any multiplier points. One employee thought it would be starting in Dec. I would keep checking before you start your play.
The rodeo is coming to town and the Gold Coast will be full of cowboys. You want to dress like one? Earn 500 points between December 5-14 and get an NFR shirt – no points will be taken from your account. One shirt per account. If this offer doesn’t appeal to you, you can earn Pepsi plush stuffed animals from December 13-24, just 200 base points to earn one

M RESORT
New players club here. Check their Web site for the details of the new 4-tier club. “Beginning in 2014 you will be able to earn rewards at all Penn National locations in the U.S. and Canada. Points earned at the M Resort and all other Penn National properties will go toward your comps and tier status.”

As far as whether you should play for gift cards or drawing entries, first of all, the gift cards need to be worth the -EV you have to fade to earn them. If that is the case, then they’re superior to the drawing tix, because you can’t quantify that EV and it might be very, very low, especially if you only play dollar or lower denoms. If the drawing is worth anything, Bob Dancer will be playing $10,000 a hand and hogging all the tickets. The more lucrative the drawing, the more players it will attract, and the lower everybody’s individual EV will be. It’s much sounder strategy to go for the gift cards, since that return is quantifiable–again, presuming the play is worth doing in the first place, given that you have to play bad games to get the cards.
I’m an out of towner so don’t get a mailer but always able to do the Play, Earn and Win. Always a nice little bonus, especially when they have gift cards. Some of the better items at times are too large to take back on the plane so gift cards are WONDERFUL!
HARD ROCK PROMOS FOR DECEMCER:
Mo: Play and dine: 300 points = $10, 600 points = $15

On top of promo’s above seniors 45+ earn:
Mo-Tu-We-Thu all day 15X/7X. 50 points earn free 6-pack coke up to 4.
A senior can literally quadruple dip on Mondays and earn 7X/15X, earn food comps, earn free cokes and earn a gift card all on the same day.
Remember that you have to swipe your card and opt in everyday. If you play over midnight remember to swipe again at 12.00A.
In my opinion HRH currently offers the best comps in town. I get freeplay 9 times a month and food comps once a week in addition to above.
My question about the Palms would be, since if you play their good VP, you get absolutely nothing and you are ineligible for promotions, what is the best VP you can play and earn gift cards? I know that they have some JOB, but recently, people were hitting those hard for the bingo card promo and people were taken out and shot afterwards. So perhaps Palms has followed Stations’ lead and made not just +EV VP but also “decent” VP ineligible for promos. Can you tell us what amount of coin-in earns a given gift card and what the best game available for the promo would be? Also, if they have a daily max number of cards, that would be good info. (Needless to say, I can’t find any of that info on their stupid, awful, moron-created website.)
Thanks again for the info. I agree the year does seems to fly by faster as we get older,
The Palms offer talks about a mailer. Is that Play, earn and win only valid if we have a mailer?
