South Point can be sticklers for their promotions so I have a question on their buffet for 300 slot points promotion. If I earn the points playing video poker do I qualify for the promotion?

Kevin is right about this being “shoulder season” –however, even though more people are flying into Las Vegas (see airport number comparisons) the Strip is experiencing less of that business. Could it be that all those room fees, paying to park and generally higher prices are catching up to them??? Maybe the off-strip properties believe the time is right to strike and woo those customers to them!? You have to admit that the only thing that gets casino management’s attention is $$$$$$$!

Do not go to the Rampart buffet. It’s not worth it. BTW Freemont Casino has shrimp Coctail for >99cents. Good value.

This is a “shoulder season” for Vegas (to the extent that Vegas even has one), in that the NFL playoffs, many major conventions, March Madness, etc. have come and gone and it’s not yet summer, which for reasons absolutely unfathomable to me, is high season in Vegas (and the WSOP isn’t for a couple of months). So April/May promos for visitors as well (room offers and discounts) might be better than they have been.

From my visitor’s perspective, the last six months or so have been TERRIBLE for room offers, even though my play, if anything, was greater in 2017 than in previous years. Friends who live in Vegas tell me that they’ve seen a drastic cut in mailers and promos. The casinos have really been tightening the screws, it seems, so any reversal of that would be welcome.

I concur with your favorable review of the AYCE buffet. I think it’s a certainty that the price will be gradually jacked up in the very near future, now that everybody knows about it. I would still go, though, even paying 50% more than current prices–it’s that good.
