Q+A

You Ask – I Answer

First, I need to answer some questions  about the Palms gift card promotion.  You can earn one of EACH item, i.e., one $100 Visa card, one $50 Visa card, etc.  So if you earn 96,400 points on VP you can get one of everything on the list I printed in my last blog.

Kevin, in the “Comments,” tried to give the EV of playing various games for this promo and his figures were correct IF you are looking only at the game and promo EV’s.  However, there is much more value available, including the drawings.  And if you are a local, there can be strong free play amounts in your monthly mailer plus extra “mystery” free-play mailings.  The mailers also include food comps which might be valuable to some.  I like the salon/spa coupons because that saves me real money that I would spend elsewhere for mani-pedi’s.

So you can see that what is a “good play” depends on the individual and it is not possible to judge  that for another person.  You just don’t know all the factors involved.  There are many skilled VP players at the Palms who are finding good value there.

Q:  Where might we run into you and Brad these days?

A:  We don’t play as much as we used to, or at as many different casinos.

Your Questions

  • Several people have asked if I could share a written copy of my presentation at the recent host conference.  Unfortunately not, simply because I haven’t one –  it was not a formal “speech.”  It was in a Q+A format, with the leader of the conference asking me questions.  I had been given a list of these questions in advance and had written down some notes, but mostly I just talked “off the top of my head.”

Q+A’s

Q:  Jean, you once listed a newspaper website that listed all types of Las Vegas casino info. It was very helpful. My computer crashed and I lost it. Could you or any of your followers tell me what it was?

I searched the Review-Journal Web site and can’t seem to find this information.  Maybe they no longer list this?

Q:  Why don’t you play at Fill-in-the-Blank casino(s)?

Q+A’s

Here are some questions I have received in the last few months:

Q:  How do you know when a royal progressive on a VP machine is high enough to make it a good play?

More Response to your Comments

First, thanks to everyone who says nice things about this blog. I find it a real compliment when people say they read it. A writer’s nightmare is when no one reads what they write!  🙂

Now to your questions and issues.

Q:  A friend and I both play at Harrah’s properties. Which is most advantageous, one of us to be a higher Diamond or both of us to be just Diamond level?

Q:  We will be in Vegas in March. Where do you suggest the best slot play and bargains are?

Sorry to say it is almost impossible for me to tackle questions like these

Q+A’s

It’s time to answer some of the questions that have appeared in the “Comments” or come to me in private e-mails.

Where can I find out what casinos offer the best Video Poker Odds and what those odds are?

Updates

Here are some questions asked of me recently, either in the “Comments” or in private e-mails. By the way my e-mail address is queenofcomps@ cox.net. I do try to answer all e-mails as soon as I can. However, please don’t ask me broad questions

Answering Your Questions

Thanks to everyone who has said good things about the recent series on Brad’s gambling experiences down through the years.  To answer your queries about whether I will now start writing about my own early gaming history, that is a possibility I am mulling  over in my head.  I had “sworn” that I would never ever write another book.  But last night when I had a four-hour bout of insomnia, one started sketching itself in my head:

Updates and Comments

Q:  I was watching the Travel Channel last week, a program “Winning in Las Vegas.”   I was just wondering if you and Brad still have those scooters you two were riding.
