I was very fortunate to place top 5, weekly Aug promo Thurs (Gold Coast) – after 100 pts earned, you get 1 entry/free (3 min) slot tournament and 250 pts played gives you 2 entries. Very easy to do, the new slot tournament games are on the EVERI (mfg) games, between Buffet and Cornerstone restaurant area. I like these slot tournament formats, even for discounted event offers, you aren’t “Stuck” staying at the GC (or Orleans, also uses similar tournament slot machines); Play your session, then your schedule is free, i.e. – not obligated to stay and play again (i.e. – stuck in their casino while waiting to play again in 1-3 hrs)…. Normally about 50000 score per min would place you high in the money on event tournaments, but I found out from the mkt slot lady, that for the game chosen (Rubies and 7s), scores lower, about 120000 or so should make top 100. I got 102000+ 1st session, but then a whopping 141, 556 2nd try. Well, had to wait to 9pm, when scores posted, (124884 was 100th place up to 139, 463 for 6th place ($20 and $50 lower payout winners in freeplay)….and I made 2nd place for $600 in freeplay! Obviously a worthwhile promo that worked out for me…as 2nd-5th was only down to 140, 165 (less than 1391 pts separated us all, and one spin win could’ve made a difference in prize money, 3rd place player scored 141255 – or less than 301 to tie or beat me…wow!). What to do, so many options for me as a .25vp player…..$600 is ALOT of freeplay (480 hands of .25 vp sgl line). Well, I stuck to basics, and ran most of it back through .25vp – NSUD, and some .50c NSUD. Cashed out $568.75, or about 95% shortrun return. Took about 45 min, and then I had to drive home (all trips must end…..)…what a way to end my trip! Thank you GC for the ‘bonus’ freeplay on minimal pts today! BOYD may have cutback on offers and such for players, but there are still promotions worth a try, if you have the time and plan your visits where they are offered. If anyone knows differently please speak up. My Emerald status will expire at the end of September. I have a trip planned for Labor Day week and I will make my way to the strip if I can get Diamond status, but looking at the rules, I don’t think it’s worth the trip.
