Best to use your comps in a timely fashion. I recall having $75 in comps at a local casino and hoping to use them for lunch with a friend. To my dismay, they were gone! I was told the casino was under new management & policies had changed.

I have actually received MORE comp offers lately – and continue to receive my usual other offers. But then again, I treat all casino employees with respect – and it does seem to pay off. If one is not receiving their “usual” offers, just remember that Jean always said to not “be married” to one casino. There are plenty of other casinos in Vegas, give them some play, be nice and see what happens.

Linda, the era of comps is over. Jean still gets good treatment (though not as good as before!) because of her looooong history of comparatively huge play, and dare I speculate, name recognition. But for the rest of us peasants, “comped room” is one of those quaint, antiquated phrases like “no resort fees” or “bargain buffets.” I, personally, have been comp-stiffed this year by five, count ’em, five different casinos that I used to give a lot of play and in return, would bestow on me three free nights. Now, they won’t even offer me casino rate!!

This is because people are currently running, screaming up to the casinos, clutching bags of money, BEGGING to be allowed inside to throw that money away. Ain’t gonna be no bargains in a frenzied seller’s market. Best to just stay away. There are other, and better ways to blow your money.

How great that your good gambling friend can join you for this one. From my past experience, expect to have occasional pangs of missing Brad and wishing the trip was a day or so shorter. Try to throw those off, knowing he is in loving hands and he most certainly would want you to do this. Enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe, the fun times, good meals and good gambling. Kudos to your daughter and son-in-law.

At the Salon at Green Valley Ranch you can use points to cover the tip. I don’t know of any other casino related property that allows this.
