However, team loyalty made MANY people bet the wrong side…

Actually, there IS a lesson here: never make a sports bet on “your” team, because you will likely ignore highly unfavorable odds (or pointspread) for that bet.

I was also stunned by the magnitude of the over/under number—56 1/2 is a HUGE number! The proper bet was a parlay of the Saints and Under, and unlike many other Super Bowls, this bet was unequivocal–both Under 56 1/2 and Saints +6 were HUGE advantage plays. I wish I had had more than $200 available to bet.
