An Invitation from Angela, the Frugal Princess
On Saturday, December 29, 2018, believe it or not, my Mom – Jean Scott – is turning 80 – and that is an occasion to celebrate!
As you can imagine, a gambler who has been chasing casino promotions for 35 years doesn’t need any birthday presents! What she REALLY wants more than ANYTHING is to visit with friends and with those who enjoy what she loves – the frugal casino lifestyle.
So, my husband Steve and I and granddaughter Kaitlynn want to invite you to join us at the Las Vegas Tuscany Casino, in the party room at the back of the Pub 365, for a Frugal Friends Open House on Saturday, December 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
There will be laughter, reminiscing, and story-telling with The Queen of Comps and, of course, with the King of Kindness (Brad), who is always by her side. Jean would be so happy to see long-time friends, and especially old video poker cohorts that she rarely runs into at casinos anymore. And she would love the opportunity to meet in person the many fellow casino frugalites that have become Internet friends through the gambling forums and her blog.
You don’t need to RSVP – just pop in anytime between 2 and 4 p.m. to join in a birthday celebration of friendship!
So looking forward to meeting you and Brad. We have been huge fans of yours since your first book! As a matter of coincidence, my husband’s birthday is also Dec 29th and he is from Indiana. See you on the 29th!
My husband Don and I are so excited to be invited. We are huge fans. You got us started on comps, deals and video poker. It will be wonderful to meet you and Brad. Plus my husband’s birthday is the same day, and he was born and raised in the great state of Indiana. Probably why we always felt a great connection!
Happy Birthday Jean! Will be out of town for the holidays. You have no idea the influence you have had on my Las Vegas retirement. Thank you.
Happy Birthday Jean —- We are going to my cousin’s 80th birthday party today December 16.
Happy 80th! We will miss your party but never one of your email Vegas Value Frugal hints for saving and playing. You signed a book for me way back in the days of the VP gatherings. Have a wonderful day and blessings to you forward!

Unfortunately we won’t be able to make it to LV to be there for your 80th birthday Jean. We would love to see you and Brad again (Palms this past May, 3 royals on 50 play as I recall) as well as meet others whose names I recognize but have never met in person. In any case thanks for the invite and we wish you the greatest birthday ever and pray for many more to come and good health to boot!

Jean, you look 10-20 years younger than 80 and your heart and enthusiasm are decades less, so I think your daughter has your birthday age totally wrong!
Congratulations, Queen Jean! I will not be able to attend your party, but I wish you and yours well. We have never met, but it’s possible I saw you once at Harrah’s New Orleans, several years ago, as you were standing in the Seven Stars cashier line? (Anyway, the woman in line resembled your picture and the few video clips I’ve seen of you).
Regardless, your “The Frugal Gambler,” was one of the most important resources I discovered through LVA. It (as well as your columns) and its successors have been invaluable to me over the years since 2000–making my visits more fun, more enjoyable, and more complementary, win or lose.
Thank you for your work to help the little guys and gals, and others. I hope the next “35 years” find you as healthy and successful as the past ones. Best, and regards,
Happy Birthday, Queen of Comps! We are scheduled to be out over SuperBowl (can I say SuperBowl here, or does it have to be The Big Game??) weekend, so we won’t be there the end of December to to make the open house. But congratulations anyway. You have inspired a legion.
I fully expect to be at this great celebration and personally thank Jean for all that she has done to help us enjoy VP while still keeping our children’s inheritance intact. I say “fully expect” because at 84 yrs., I am learning not to call anything 100% definite. We, my wife and I, have had the pleasure of saying hi to Jean and Brad on several occasions at different casinos and they were always extremely gracious and willing to take time out and speak with us even while they were in the middle of a great EV game.
Jean, Happy Birthday, and please continue to write in your blog.

Enjoy your big day. We don’t arrive at the Fremont until 15 January for five days. We’ll be thinking about you and wish you many royals! Frances and Jack Stevens, Hunt, TX 78024
Can’t make it to LV on 12/29, but thanks for the invite.
Happy 80th, Queen Jean! And a thousand thanks for your myriad contributions to us VP players.
Would love to be there. We are still trying to get great airfare deal after the rodeo.
Maybe we will see you out and around that week.
I love that Angela, Steve and Kaitlynn are helping to give the present that really counts.
(Well Royals are also great) The gift of visiting with friends, family and guests at the party is really wonderful.
I hope to get you and the King of Kindness to sign my book (your first one)!! I have always brought it with me every visit to Vegasbut still haven’t been in town when you are there. (December is such a busy month)!!
Enjoy the party and the milestone, Congrats.
