Also not true that most of us come on the weekends; MANY of us come Sun-Thurs as that is when our rooms are more often comped or much cheaper–and air is often cheaper as well.
Jean–thanks again; you are the reason we virtually never pay for rooms in Vegas anymore!!

Not true that one needs a car to get to these casinos. There is a free shuttle from Harrahs or Ballys to the Rio & an easy walk across the street to Palms.
Both Tuscany & Hard Rock are walkable from the strip. Hard Rock is the longest at a mile–but when you consider the Strip is 3 miles from Wynn to Mandalay Bay, a mile is very doable.

Even though we only come once a year we like to hear what kind of promos are going on. We also like to hear about the areas that are not on the strip, we know there are shuttles and of course the CAT which is a great deal for out of towners.

I think I have heard from some board (?LVA) that there are coupons in the regular Vegas Newspaper.Not sure of the details though.

Info exchange is kind of like giving store coupons to someone, just to pass along some savings that you know you won’t use but someone can benefit from them.

I for one, am very, very grateful for any promotion information you can share (and I am NOT a local). Especially for Palms – it seems I can never find information about Palms promotions on the internet. And yes, we would arrange our visit to Vegas to include them if we know in advance. So, please continue to share information about promotions, I truly do appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to help us non-locals out with this valuable information.

Jean: thanks for offering to post monthly promotions. I may not visit all of the casinos offering deals, but I’d hate to visit one and find out later they had a deal I could have taken advantage of. Also, while I do my homework ahead of every trip by researching various websites, no one site has a comprehensive list of all promotions. I appreciate you taking the time to inform us of things that you find as another resource I can use.

in LV ever give away any thing that’s not made in China?
Here in Ca. that’s all I’ve ever gotten, I usely toss it
on the way out the door. It might work once but very

Jean please keep this thread, we make one trip to Las Vegas a year (May/June) and we ALWAYS rent a car so I and many other out of towners can use your local wisdom and advantage. Something I would like to hear more about is when the local paper has gaming opportunities, we never buy a paper unless we know there is a great gaming coupon in it. When we stayed @ the Palms they gave us a daily paper but we don’t get offers from them anymore. Thanks for all you do and just ignore those negative comments trust me your readers do love your advice even us low rollers benefit.

The South Point swipe promo is on again for July. $200 coin-in gets you a swipe, and the worst prizes are movie tickets or free buffets–but the $25 free play hits often enough that this is very worthwhile. You can also get points prizes (about $8 worth, last time I checked), etc. I calculated the EV of this play, based on a very rough estimation of the frequency of the prizes, at about +4% on $200 coin-in at NSUD. You can do this once a day.

Jean, thanks for the info…..but I’m not sure this is of much value to your out-of-towners. First they would have to have a rental car to get around. Second, they would probably have to be regular players at the casinos you mention. Third, if one doesn’t have more details on any “advantages” ahead of time, the one could very well be wasting their time to try to take advantage of some of these promos. Your advantage of living in Vegas and playing at all of these casinos far outweighs any advantages that might apply (with of course some exceptions) to your out-of-towners who are able to come to Vegas only three or four times a year at most. Also, few of us come to Vegas mid-week (Tues/Wed). We may arrive any time from Thursday-Saturday, so many of your “advantage” plays may not be available to us.

I find this to be the same with offers on the Las Vegas Advisor and others. Many of the advantage plays and coupon specials would require a rental car and considerable travel to visit some of the locations.

I don’t mean to downplay your advice…it simply won’t apply to many Vegas visitors.
