Jean,

Hopefully this is on topic.

You have made me very aware, over the years, of the fact all gamblers have different goals.

For example, I will only play a positive game since I live out of state and do not get to take advantage of local promotions. However, I do get free rooms and some food comps which is great for a quarter player.

I have a friend that lives in Vegas and she is all about the comps for being 7 Star. She cannot understand at all why I play the way I do. However, I know for a fact that she is down every year $8,000 to $10,000 playing double-double: But, she gets unbelievable comps which are probably worth $20,000+(prepaid vacation?).

I go for the cash, she enjoys what she does and is able to take advantage of comps that could never work for me.

I have fun and usually leave ahead:) Each to their own.

Jean, I would like to apologize for taking the prior topic off-track, though I did think my comments were germane in that I have observed in many friends and acquaintances the dynamics and factors that make for happy and unhappy "gambling couples." As money is generally acknowledged to be the single greatest cause of marital friction, it seems that even mild disagreements on how and how much to gamble are potential minefields. You and Brad have been successful in no small part because you've largely been on the same page.

Jean, I hope that most of your readers feel that your blog is a lot like your former profession.
Everyone learns in a different way. You sure make learning a fun way even on subjects that we haven't experienced yet.
I feel that you certainly paint a wonderful picture with your words. I love attending the school in the "kindom" of Queen Jean.
