Airport hint: You can park for free for 15 minutes in the short-term lot at the Las Vegas Airport. And until they build an official cellphone lot for people picking up incoming flyers, we often use the Tuscany or Hooters casino parking lots, which are just minutes away.
November is rich in special days. Look for promotions on Veterans Day on the 11th, especially food specials for veterans; Thanksgiving on the 28th; and then a fun math day on 11-12-13!
PALMS
“Play, Earn, and Win” – with only “stuff” on the menu – continues on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in November but my crowded garage is more excited about the Tuesday/Thursday promotion. You can “earn over $200 in free slot play each day and you keep the points!” This runs from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
The usual drawings continue on Friday and Saturday nights – I assume at 8 p.m. although the time isn’t given on my mailer. Again you can earn 5x drawing entries from 8 p.m. until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. I don’t have the details of the drawing prizes but the mailer did say “One $20,000 cash winner every week.” I’m going to assume there will be fewer and/or smaller other cash prizes. I do not like these top-heavy drawings! They appeal to the lottery mentality – I am more the grind-it-out type.
We’re still being frustrated by the car wash being out of order more often than in order. But remember to ask for your tokens at the slot club each month anyway – All Star card holders get one per month, MVP’s and Hall of Famers get two.
ELLIS ISLAND
I am liking the robust kiosk system in place here at the Island, where you can transact all kinds of business, including activating free play for easy pickup at a slot or video poker machine of your choice. It saves standing in line so much at the players club, although one or two more kiosks would help reduce those lines.
No car and you want to get to this off-Strip casino for a bargain meal, to collect your bounce-back, or do some play? They will pay for your taxi ride there, up to $20, in free play or pit play. Save your taxi receipt and take it to the players club when you arrive.
Hurrah! You can choose pizza OR a half Boardhouse sub with your Tuesday and Saturday coupons in November. Brad still chooses the pizza but I like the sub.

My memory wants to recall that some time ago one of your columns contained informaton relative to a chip or a setting on single game VP machines that were different depending on which machine you were playing – – a different setting if your machine played ONLY Bonus Poker or if your machine played ONLY DDB. You noted that on a multi-game machine the casino could only set one of the chips or settings you referred to and that one setting would apply to which ever VP game you chose to play on that machine. Do you recall the column and can you head me in the correct direction. We enjoy Boyd casinos downtown and the single-game VP machines are disappearing fast. So sad! TYVM, CaptJack47
