People often ask about his health – and he likes to say he hasn’t been in the hospital for almost 4 years.  Of course that last visit was a serious one, when he went into cardiac arrest for 5 minutes.  Fortunately there was no permanent damage from that, they put in a pacemaker, his heart meds have been adjusted, the 7 stents in his right heart artery seem to be doing a good job.  So we feel blessed that he can do pretty much what he always could do and still wants to do.  Continue reading

Tax Time

It’s getting near that time when we start thinking about our tax returns.  And many casino goers are wondering about how they need to deal with their gambling information, particularly if they received one (or more) W-2G’s for the first time last year.  Many of these first-timers might be tempted to ignore them, thinking that even if they had one or two jackpots they were an overall loser for the year so didn’t need to give the IRS any information.

WRONG!  And you need to know why. Continue reading

Happy Holidays

The postings here have been spotty recently due to 18 days on the road, in the air, and on the sea.  And then when we got home we were both hit hard with a nasty flu bug.  But we are finally recovering, albeit slower than we’d like.  I have lots to share but until I get caught up, we at least want to wish everyone a happy holiday season.

Here’s Brad holiday greeting, clowning around while picking up some comps!

More About Airline Bumping

In the past I have discussed airline bumping, when an airline pays a volunteer to take a later flight because they have overbooked the original one.  This subject also pops up on gambling forums because gamblers often fly to casino destinations.

A friend on one forum who has worked at airline jobs for many years gave some interesting and helpful insight into this subject that she has given me permission to share with my readers: Continue reading

Continuing our Long Vacation

Someone reminded me that cruise photos were only $5 when we first cruised.  Now that I’ve thought about it, I believe that is correct.  I just remember that it seemed high back then when we had our own camera with us and that would be much cheaper!

Someone also questioned that soft drinks were an extra charge 28 years ago. Continue reading
