Here’s some good news for extreme frugalites: the opening of a huge new thrift store in Vegas. Actually this new Savers store, located in the SE corner strip mall at Sahara and Decatur, replaces the smaller store that used to be on Spring Mountain near Decatur.
When you are in a long losing streak, there is the strong tendency to look for a reason. Some have mentioned that the casinos have “tightened up the machines.” If you are playing in some Indian casinos or some states where they have a different type of video poker that is not random, this might be the case. However, if you are playing in a highly regulated state, like Nevada, Mississippi, New Jersey, or Louisiana, you would know whether this is true by looking at the paytables – since to lower the return, they must downgrade the paytables.
My recent check-cashing jackpot has generated a lot of discussion, both in the Comments section and private e-mails and conversations. Although most people are genuinely happy to hear such good-luck stories, there are always a few who complain that I talk too much about the positives of video poker play and ignore the negatives.
