Posting and Hoping

I had been warned that even the new improved “Bandaid surgery” to remove a gallbladder was no walk in the park, but I was optimistic that I would be as good as new with just a few days of rest. Wrong! I tried not to overdo it, but, hey, my family was here and we were having so much fun running all over town for a week. I could always rest later.

Well, rest I did after the family boarded the plane home to Georgia. Maybe “rest” isn’t the right word – “collapsed”?  My immune system must have completely given up by that time and I was hit by the flu or some infection that sent me straight to bed for the next week.

I blamed it on the stress of having to change out my 2004 dinosaur for a brand-new computer! And it will be a miracle if this blog entry ever sees the light of day in cyberspace! I don’t need just a Geek Squad – I need a whole army of computer-savvy soldiers!

In the meantime, a short vacation seems to be in order.  So, Brad and I and a couple of our friends are heading to the Chicago area this week. Not our first choice by any means for a January get-away, but we have to use – or lose – my Caesars 7* trip before March 31.  And there are a few machines at the Hammond Horseshoe that are always beckoning us.

Hopefully I will be back here posting next weekend – unless the Internet gremlins have taken over this new computer while I am gone!

I sympathize with you on the new computer. I spent two weeks after Christmas converting from my own 2004 Dell laptop to a new HP. Going from XP Professional to Windows 7 Home Premium was bad enough, but when I also went from Office 97 to Office 2010 I am still tearing my hair out.
If I can help in anyway, just call me and I will email you my phone number.

Hi Jean, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for a while now
and I don’t even play poker! I just really like reading all about your travels and such. I first saw you on the Travel Channel about four years ago and enjoyed your frugal tips then and started reading your blog ever since. I do visit Vegas once a year though, and enjoy the slot machines. My question to you is, do you know why Caesars has recently closed their Buffet restaurant?

Hope you feel better soon and that you don’t get snowed in in Chicago! What hotel does Caesars use for their 7* people there?

Have a fun and profitable trip!

Hi Jean, I’ve been following your blog for awhile but haven’t posted yet. So sorry to hear of your prolonged illness but glad you are feeling better now.

When you are in the Chicago area, do you ever gamble at Harrah’s Joliet? I ask because I am from the area, and they have a very good $1 DDB carousel there and a hotel attached to the casino which Hammond does not have.

    Lots of luck to you.
