Q+A’s
Q: Jean, you once listed a newspaper website that listed all types of Las Vegas casino info. It was very helpful. My computer crashed and I lost it. Could you or any of your followers tell me what it was?
I searched the Review-Journal Web site and can’t seem to find this information. Maybe they no longer list this?
Q: Why don’t you play at Fill-in-the-Blank casino(s)?
I get asked this question a lot, about various casinos or casino groups. I also get asked the reverse – why do I play at such-and-such casino. The answer is basically the same for both questions and really can be stated quite simply: We play in a casino where promotions and players club benefits added to a video poker game make it a 100%+ play. If this isn’t available we don’t play in that casino.
Of course, the execution of this policy is more complicated – took me 4 books to explain it and I’m still learning new things all the time, even after almost 30 years of “practicing.” I just looked at a list of Vegas casinos and realized we had played in almost all of them at one time or another –plus in many that no longer exist. Some we may have been in only when we had a coupon to use. Some we have – or had – played in for many years. And some we have started and stopped playing there several times.
No two gamblers, even among those who are always looking for an advantage, will have the same playlist at any one time, especially in Vegas, where you have a number of opportunities. Varying bankrolls will determine varying denominational and volatility choices. Location or health factors, i.e., smoke, can be a determining factor. Locals and out-of-towners will have different needs and goals. Full-timers who need to make their living in a casino will make different choices than part-time hobbyists.
Q: Do you have any information about the Mlife cruise benefit for players below the Noir tier?
I don’t have personal experience to report but here is what one poster said on an Internet forum: “Mlife Platinum currently gives a 3- to 5- day Bahamas or Caribbean cruise on a Royal Caribbean ship. This includes drink coupons and a specialty dinner for 2 with an ocean view room, but you are able to upgrade for a reasonable amount.”
Dear Jean,
Cheers for the advice. Yea I read if booking via a 3rd party it is very troublesome if you need to cancel/amend your booking. Have you stayed at the Stratosphere Hotel? looks excellent and cheap rate again read the reviews on tripadvisor apparently the area is unsafe hence the cheap rate.

About booking a room in Vegas, many people just go with the lowest rate they can find. However, booking with a 3rd party has one disadvantage for people who play a lot. You can’t ask a host to comp some or all of your room charges at the end of your stay.
Dear Jean,
I intend to visit Vegas during Jan next year for the AVN expo. Checked the rates online on sites such as expedia, hotels.com and the prices stated include taxes and fees. i found them to be quite reasonable and affordable but still do you think it is wiser to book directly with the hotel instead of liasing with a 3rd party
My dear Mrs Scott,
Bob Dancer and Jeffrey Compton used to write a weekly column in the neon section of the R&J. I believe that is what the gentleman is referring to. Hope the royals are many and the gambling great for you and Brad. Have a great day

On left side there is a red search box. Select Casinos/Hotels/Resorts and coupon list will come up
I can’t speak to cruises offered by MLife. However, the cruises I’m offered through another casino group have bukus of fees that one must pay – all taxes, fuel surcharge, embarkation/disembarkation fees, port charges, tips (charged to your card at the beginning of the cruise, etc. All this can get to be pretty steep, so you will need to look very closely into this issue before claiming a “free” cruise.
