The Palms 50 cent deuces were obviously only meant to be there for a very short time. A poster on VpFree asked why a casino would do this--put in a very good play only to yank it soon afterward, as in the Orleans Loose Deuces a few years back. The answer is that the casino wants to positively identify who should get no-mailed. The previous method of simply identifying consistent winners and executing them was flawed, as it misidentified both ploppies who happened to be on a hot streak and actual APs who were having a bad month or months. While consistent play on the old Palms FPDW progressive (or its nearby Joker brothers) was enough to get you no-mailed in the past (and maybe the servers at Garduno's instructed to spit in your food, as well), it's possible that the new management wants a hit list of its own.
Jean mentions that a player should jump on a good play when it appears as soon as possible. However, it's PRECISELY this mentality--and the resultant actions--that swiftly kills those good plays. I was surprised when the Orleans play lasted as long as it did, with locals playing the same machines 24/7 in shifts, some wearing giant diapers underneath their clothing so they wouldn't lose the $1 in EV that would be consumed by leaving the machine to go to the bathroom.
So if you hit the .50 FPDW at the Palms, don't be surprised to see your monthly mailer go poof.
