I am writing this in the Captain’s Lounge at Harrah’s Council Bluffs. I’m using a strange computer so who knows how this will turn out. Hopefully readable!
Last Wednesday we left Vegas to embark on the longest road trip we’ve taken in probably 10 years. We’re heading to PA for a reunion, but stopping along the way to visit relatives and friends and do some sightseeing. Our first stop was an overnight stay in Sedona, which we loved. Then visiting relatives in Rico, Colorado, and riding two gondolas over the mountains into Telluride. Breath-taking scenery continued as we drove across Colorado, opting for mountain roads instead of freeways.
However, we finally went back to freeway driving from Denver, across Nebraska, and into Council Bluffs, Iowa. We are staying here for two night to “rest up” before we head to Hammond, IN, where we will be staying for four nights, using one of our 7 Star trips at the Hammond Horseshoe.
Hot here – we’re used to that. Humid here – we aren’t used to that!
Horseshoe Hammond does not have a hotel..where are they putting you up..hopefully downtown Chicago…maybe I’ll see you at the casino…will definitely look for you both!!!
Where are they putting you up in Hammond? Horseshoe doesn’t have a hotel.
Just wondered where you are staying at the Hammond Horseshoe? They do not have a hotel!
Have a great road trip.
Hi Jean;
Since you are so close, it you can stop in the new Rivers Casino near O’Hare I think it would be worth a few minutes of your time. If ever a casino had ‘success’ written on it, this one does. Very near the airport and even closer to the big hotels. Has nice restaurants also, so many businessmen and women will be stopping in just for that.
Thanks for all of the nice things you do for all of us readers.
Fred
Have fun! Hopefully you won’t have another tax issue in Hammond.
Safe travels to you and have a great time!
While traveling through my area(Northern Illinois & Northwest Indiana) try to check out 2 great casinos located on or around Interstate 294/94: (1) Rivers (just opened last week) in Desplaines, IL (near O’hare airport) and (2) Fourwinds Casino in New Buffalo, MI. Of the 2, the Fourwinds is a favorite of mine and the hotel & casino are sure to give the Frugalista a thrill.
