South Point Offers

Have you given the South Point casino your e-mail address yet?  They just sent out another e-mail blast to customers who had done so.  This time it was for a $20 free play bonus on April 1 – no April Fool joke here!  And the nice thing is the bonus was waiting there for you when you inserted your players card.  No waiting in line at the players club to get it uploaded.

However, I haven’t minded waiting at the club to activate some of the recent South Point bonuses because they have been substantial, often more than our usual pickup amount in the monthly mailer.  For example, the last two months we each got an extra one-time coupon for $50 in addition to our regular $30 weekly amount.  People who played to earn the higher $50 mailers were rewarded with a bonus of  $100.  Although you did have to go to the slot club to redeem this extra bonus coupon, you have a choice of dates.  In March it was any Sunday; in April it is any Monday.

We will be playing at South Point this Easter Sunday – 2x points on video poker makes an already good play on many of their machines even more valuable.  If you see us there, stop and say hello!

I have gone twice to Southpoint to play video poker and it’s no big deal. They have full pay V.P. but (surprise) you don’t win. What good are their promotions if the slots are TIGHT? Goodby SOUTHPOINT!!

I always look forward to South Point 2x point days as it adds an extra incentive to drive “out of town”.
Last time I was there I got distracted and walked away leaving $100 in the VP machine. By the time I realized it the $100 had been cashed out. Some time later after I sat down at another machine resolving never to let that happen again, two slot attendants came over asked me if my name was George and handed me a $100 voucher. They said they were able to track me down since I always had my slot card inserted. That had to be above and beyond what any other casino would do. South Point certainly knows how to take care of their customers and remains my favorite. Their rooms are great also.

There might be changes in the wind. In recent months (amazingly), Vegas casinos didn’t seem to be making much effort to attract customers–no particular profusion of new promotions/offers, and the places that were stingy stayed stingy (like Stations). However, yesterday I got a mailer from M–where I played twice a year or so ago, on the good quarter machines that they had then, winning a few bucks in the process. Since then, they had ignored me, and I them. But the mailer I just received has multiple $20 free play offers, and two free buffets, for the month of April. The first mailer I’ve ever gotten from those guys!
It seems as if there is absolutely no correlation between level and frequency of play (including how recent), and the offers I get. I’ve been getting $100 free play coupons from a place I haven’t set foot in since 2008. $200 free play from another place where I used to play a lot, but I’ve shunned for three years since I was treated badly by one of their hosts. On the flip side, I’ve given the Palms a fair amount of action, and in return have received nothing, nothing, nothing.
South Point continues to send me the standard out-of-towner two free room nights+$50 free play+$50 food credit every calendar quarter. The VP isn’t wonderful, but it isn’t bad, and if you play NSUD or Triple Bonus on 2X point days, you can eke out +0.3% EV (more than that, if you factor in the mailers). Remember when we all wouldn’t have bothered to play with such a tiny advantage? LOL.
