They’re Still Out to Get Me

The medical profession in Las Vegas, that is!

Back in 2008 they had 3 shots to get me when it was discovered that a couple Endoscopy Clinics  run by Dr. Desai, by re-using vials of the anesthetic propofol that were meant for one-time use, had spread hepatitis  to many patients.  Although I had three procedures there, fortunately I escaped the tainted vials.

Now another doctor, Michael Kaplan, is in the news, having been charged with re-using single-use-only needle guides three to five times until they because “too bloody” to be cleaned.  Although these items were  used only on men having prostate and rectal biopsies, I have to wonder how sanitary things were when I had one procedure there a couple of years ago.

Next time I have a medical procedure, I know I will seem nosey with all my questions and “inspections.”  But I like this cliche: just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you!
