Comments on D.G. section closed. So posting here. Ref Downtown Grand. I was there Labor Day weekend and played the full pay video poker. I went to the kiosk and swiped my card and the points were accumulating for bonus free play. I also received monthly free play of $45. Wife received her $100. Talking to the bartender and he said a ton of people bitched and apparently are back to points and offers. The vp progressive now starts at $1250 with the a’s kicker and 2,3,4’s kicker have progressive. A’s and 2,3,4’s dont progress higher. Limited coin level on deuces full pay

If I manage to hit a jackpot or even a large win, I will push the “cash out ” button and put the TITO in my purse. I will then slide in a twenty. If it disappears quickly I can walk away with the feeling that the machine has stopped paying out. If I leave the ticket in the machine I am much more likely to give my winning back to the casino.

One factor for me is irrational but compelling: I feel MUCH better (and am more inclined to quit) if I’m even after having been behind for the whole session than I do if I’ve been ahead and just dropped back to even. Then, I want to keep playing. Stupid, since the state of being even is more important than how I got there. And on a meta-level, I should keep playing if it’s a good play and stop playing if it isn’t, ceteris paribus.

The single factor that makes me change machines the most, BY FAR, is when some fool sits down next to me and lights up a stinkarette. I used to not let these people drive me away from a good machine, especially if there were no other ones available. But after even ten minutes of such exposure, I would eventually stagger away, dizzy and nauseated, with my hair and clothes smelling like an ashtray. That also feeds into one of your rules: you’re no longer enjoying yourself, stop playing!
