Caesars Rewards credit card

April 15, 2019 7 Comments Written by Jimmy Jazz

I have discussed the Caesars Rewards credit card on the GWAE podcasts before and my opinion has been that there are better credit cards out there. However, I recently received a mailed offer for the card and there are some increased benefits.

There is no annual fee and you get 5 points for every dollar spent at Caesars properties, 2 points for gas, airlines and restaurants and 1 point elsewhere.

The sign up bonus is now 20,000 reward credits after you spend $1750 in 3 months, an upgrade from Gold to Platinum on the Caesars total rewards slot club card and a free buffet.

Who could benefit from this card? If you are currently a Gold total rewards card holder and you don’t plan to play enough to achieve Platinum, you stay and dine at Caesars properties and pay some or all of the tab out of pocket and free parking at Caesars properties is valuable to you, this card might just be for you.

One caveat is that the card is backed by Comenity bank and that is not a well recognized issuer of credit cards.

Another advantage is that any spend on the credit card keeps your points alive for another 6 months. I don’t know if this would affect your offers ( by counting the points earned as a trip). If it doesn’t trip you and you meet the above conditions, this might be a worthwhile card if you can get the enhanced sign up bonus. If interested, I’d recommend calling them up and seeing if they will give you this offer.

Perhaps this is good for locals who don’t carry a credit card balance & might want to see a show or dine on property once in a while, as it avoids those crazy parking charges.

It appears that the initial points offer is targeted, but the rest of the benefits are the same as the general public.

Some other caveats and advantages should be noted:
    – After the initial year, you have to spend $5,000 in a calendar year to maintain Platinum Tier status.
    – If you carry a balance, the interest rate is lousy to confiscatory. If you’re subprime, you might pay 25% APR!
    – The free buffet does not include Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace.
    – If you spend $10,000 in a calendar year, you get a Vegas VIP Pass, which includes free pool admission and the equivalent of Diamond Line entry.

    Skippy,

Thanks for the reply. I was viewing this credit card opportunity as a ‘one and done’ type offer. Take it for the bonus, keep it for a year and then decide if you want to keep it. I don’t know if Comenity would offer any type of retention bonus or not. Not getting Platinum status the second year is a consideration and that alone may be enough to drop the card.

Also, if you are worried about credit card interest, you probably should not be hustling credit card offers. I did mention dealing with Comenity is a risk since they aren’t a very well known bank. I hope someone actually signs up and can report back on the card. It has possibilities for some people.

The parking benefit isn’t only for local LV people. It should work for anyone near a Caesars property. And them excluding Bacchanal isn’t really a surprise.

    Hi Jimmy,

I am going to apply for a Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Do you have a referral link? I’ve benefited from information that you’ve posted before, and if you have one please let me know here in the comments how to get your link.

Dustin, you can reach me at [email protected]. I don’t currently have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, so I don’t think I can refer you. I do have the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Now, the annual fee is $450 but you get $300 in travel credits. So, it’s really a $150 annual fee. It has some other perks over the CSP.
Email me if interested or if you have any other questions.

    Hey Jimmy,

I started doing some credit card hustling after listening to your interviews on GWAE. I signed up for a Caesars Rewards Visa after they sent me a pre-screened offer with the following perks: upgrade to Platinum after the first purchase, one free buffet pass (some restrictions) after the first purchase, and 20,000 reward credits after spending $1750 in the first 90 days. This card was a good option for me since I stay and play almost exclusively at Caesars properties based on my location and the convenience of their charter flights. Overall, the credit card has been more of a hassle than a hustle. I met all the spending requirements within the first 30 days of having the card. So far, I have only received 10,000 reward credits. The Platinum upgrade, the free buffet, and the 10,000 bonus reward credits for spending $1750 have not loaded to my account. I called Comenity and they referred me to Caesars for issues with my rewards account. Caesars Support in Vegas has not been supportive. I got different information both times I called them. One agent told me it would take 45 days for my Caesars Rewards account to update. Another agent said it would take 8-10 weeks. As of today, the only perk I’ve received is the original 10,000 reward credits. I’m still waiting for the others to load. I have a flight planned to Caesars Atlantic City next month. I’m hoping they get it straightened out before then. Do you know if the MLife Mastercard is a good deal or maybe better than the Caesars Visa? How about the FoundersCard? Is the huge annual fee worth it for the upgrade to Diamond and other travel benefits?

Thanks for the work you do for all of us low-level gamblers/credit card benefit hustlers!

    Joe

The founders card is not worth it because you already have to be a diamond card member- I can send you one for free if you want to check out the other perks.

I applied for the Caesar reward credit card and got it. The bonus is 10,000 points which is 100 bucks in restaurants and whatnot. The interest rate depends on your credit. Mine is 22.9%. It shot me to platinum but that’s only after you have it the 90 days and run $1000 dollars thru. I think it’s worth it for me in my current position, I’m an aspiring AP playing on a replenished 2500 dollar bank. So I really need to hustle comps right now to squeeze all the juice I can out. I am diamond level now after about 7 months but you still have to earn all the points to get there. It doesn’t let you start at platinum as far as points you still need to climb that ladder with your play, but you pay only resort fees mostly until diamond then they drop off. It helped me but everyone’s situation is different.
