Our guest this week is a return from last week, Wilma0.  We discuss more blackjack, and video poker.  But we also talk about an incident at MGM where lots of mistakes were made, and leads to Bellagio refusing to cash $20,000 of his chips.

We welcome your questions – send them to us at [email protected], or you can find me at @RWM21 on Twitter or https://www.facebook.com/GamblingWithAnEdge.

    So did he get paid?

I would have never contacted security at Bellagio regarding changing in the $20K in chips. I would have cashed out a little at a time in intervals so there would be no need for a record of the transaction and you wouldn’t have to produce ID! I don’t trust the casino or their employees to do the right thing. The casino is not your friend and doing things by the book normally doesn’t work when you’re dealing with the casino or any corporate entity. It’s you against them and that’s how I look at the situation. Corporate America is looking to cancel out the man on the street. Less is more, less interaction with the staff is far better than appearing on their radar and at the Bellagio security knew nothing even though you told security at the other casino that you may have been heading there.

It sounds like Bank of America stole $50K from you bro. It’s good that you got $40K back! Remember the movie “Casino” where Nicky meets the banker? Great scene!

Harrah’s New Orleans. I remember there was a great poker room brawl at that particular Harrah’s that circulated around on Youtube for the longest time. The video is still up. May 9th, 2015. Epic brawl.

As of today 8/27 he still has not been paid, but as I understand it Bob Nersesian is now involved.

You interviewed Bob Nersesian about 10 months ago, and during the interview, he mentioned that the Nevada Supreme Court had ruled that a casino must cash a customer’s gaming chips. How is it that the Bellagio can get away with withholding payment?

They’ll end up paying, but it’s a free roll for Bellagio to stall and make the guy jump through hoops. As far as casinos free-rolling players, you can thank Phil Ivey’s inept legal team for making matters worse than they were already.

I have not been paid yet. I feel better about my situation, though, since Bob Nersesian is working on it and James Grosjean commented that I will get paid.

Big reason I’d expect you to get paid is Bob Nersesian is working on it, so those are not two separate factors working in your favor! But this looks like one of the easiest chip-redemption cases I’ve seen. Good luck though. You’re probably taking a beating right now online, but there are lessons here to be reinforced for all of us!

You played slots with “a bum”. Wow, you call people “bums”, nice. And you took a 2/3 split. Seriously?

One of the casino’s common excuses to not pay is some fake CTR accusation, but that isn’t an issue here. Regardless of a previous cashout, his final cashout was done with ID, so he clearly isn’t trying to hide his identity. And he had confirmed play, under the same name, same card, at multiple MGM properties, including the Bellagio. He’s going to get paid. The question is how big a chunk is Bob Nersesian going to end up with. You guys gotta stop making the lawyers rich! What’s really inexplicable is the Bellagio’s stance. Do they think they’re going to be able to not pay out here? A failed attempt to stiff Wilma0 seems like a waste of time and money.

So, what is wrong with taking a 2/3rds split when you put up 2/3rds of the money? Bum might be an non ideal choice of words. How would you phrase it? I think it adds a little bit to the story since someone who is desperate for money might be willing to cheat you. This shows that a person’s appearance is no guarantee of their character.

Also, the person in question approached Wilma0 and offered the terms. What is wrong with that?

Could Wilma0 seek reimbursement of legal fees as part of his action against Bellagio? It seems like Bellagio is pretty much ignoring the law and saying we can take whatever we want. I don’t think they would want to go to trial.

And if it does go to trial and Wilma0 wins, why can’t he request lawyer costs as part of the verdict? It seems like all of these casino cases involve a significant lawyer fee that is paid by the client, even when he wins the case.

Even if the lawyer fee is 1/3 of the amount collected, that amount is small enough that you could go to small claims court, which has a $10,000 max in Nevada.

I admire most AP’s because its a tough road but you have to be careful what you are doing. You need expert advice before taking anything to the level the draws scrutiny. (in any AP field)
As an example with the banking thing I “know” people who run millions through banks for MS. They rarely do this with personal accounts. They have corporate structures set up because businesses tend to be the only ones who move lots of money around without too much scrutiny. Knowing which banks have a high tolerance for cash, transfers and MO deposits is also important.
The old classic line of don’t S##t where you eat is very apt. Never mix your personal banking with anything AP related including credit cards.
I can see why Richard is laughing so much during these interviews as he can see all the mistakes before they even happen.
I am amazed at someone who values their security clearance coming on a show and admitting some of the stuff, especially the structuring stuff Bob pointed out. I’m not being a hypocrite as most of us have done it.
I genuinely hope you get your money back from the Bellagio as they are clearly being dicks.

Its the new way of the world, people like being Dicks even if it costs them money.
    I just don’t get it.

In business there should be no ego but its never been worse. I see people making bizarre decisions in business all the time.
I see higher level company employees stepping way outside the lines because they feel invincible.
