In multi deck blackjack S17 vs. H17 it’s more player friendly to play the S-17 blackjack game if it has good rules. I don’t see why the casino would restrict blackjack players to not double down on soft hands with an A7. If a player is playing double-deck, 6 decks, or 8 decks and depending on the type of card counting strategy used by the player and what the running or true count is at the time of getting dealt A7 in conjunction with the proper index play and what the dealer upcard is should determine what the player should do, right? The rules for doubling A7 is going to change on the nature of the rules of the blackjack game (S17 or H17), decks in play and what the count is. Playing heads up against the dealer in a multi-deck blackjack game in such a scenario with A7 should be more favorable than playing on a crowded table [Ed note: Don’t understand this last sentence].

A word of caution around Richard’s suggestion to get pre-approved for a new home purchase and then applying for credit cards to take advantage of any new customer promos – any new credit taken out after a mortgage pre-approval but before the closing will be seen by the lender and will require letters of explanation why the credit was requested, as well as documentation to show if any new debt was or was not incurred.

It sounded like Richard thought once you were pre-approved, a lender no longer monitors your credit, which is definitely not the case. In most cases, loan officers will advise clients not to incur any new credit or inquiries into their credit until AFTER the home loan has closed.

Re: credit cards. Utilization is a huge part of your credit score. Even if you pay what is owed every month, your credit score could be harmed if you utilization is too high. When you have high spending months, make a mid-cycle payment to lower utilization at statement date, helping creidt score. In a related note, sometimes people can improve their credit score by adding cards because the reduction in score by applying is more than offset by more available credit lowering utilization.
