To all: WSOP has a vaccine mandate. Some people don’t like that. Noted. Get over it. [Or don’t play the WSOP.] Feel free to discuss it with millions of active participants on Twitter #COVID19. Do not attempt to insert additional WHINING about the WSOP vaccine policy into every Comment on every blog post here at GWAE. Further attempts to do so could easily result in my deleting EVERY Comment by those Commenters from now on on EVERY topic.
Prior to wsop starting this year, several pros complained and said they would be boycotting the event. The best response I read was “you can’t boycott something you aren’t invited to!” 🙂
On another note about a topic in this podcast: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/new-york-picks-9-vendors-for-lucrative-mobile-sports-betting/3388126/
@ Snapper, a 30% drop in participation says a lot about the boycott of the WSOP.
Blitz; was this drop all due to mandated vaccines or could it also be a general concern about covid, vaccine or not? We may see a rebound in 2022. Also, what it tells me is that 70%, a big majority, of the players appear to be just fine with the rule, though some of them may not be but they wanted to play. The point about the quote I mentioned is that a person cannot boycott something to which they aren’t invited and an un-vaccinated player would not have been invited. I didn’t play the wsop but was out there for part of the time. The strip seemed packed and where I played was packed. There’s no way I would’ve felt comfortable without the vaccine. Now that pfizer has a pill they say works to tamp down the virus once a person has it, I think things will open up a lot more.
