Beating Slot Machines

February 3, 2017 2 Comments Written by Richard Munchkin

Several months ago on Gambling With an Edge we discussed some men in Singapore who were arrested for video taping slot machines.  The article stated that they were cheating in some way.  We discussed why it would be illegal to video tape a slot machine, but also how this could aid in trying to beat the slot.  Here is a fascinating article that reveals more of the story.

Thank you for sharing this article. I learned more about the vulnerabilities of RNGs from reading it than on any articles in the past. I am one of the few people that enjoy slots when I started gambling and I’ve always wished I had the ability to time each spin for winning outcomes knowing how RNGs work.

As you may know, the cellular phone is becoming more accessible and more developed overtime. Most of them have a camera attached to them to record video in high definition (1080p or 4K) and take pictures.

There are recreational gamblers who post up their live play sessions of the latest slot games on Youtube as a purpose for many people to check out and draw interest. Some of them are able to capture a big win along the way.

Right now some casinos are open to allow players to record their slot machine play so that when they win, they feel it will draw attention towards others to feel compelled to play there as well. Some places are still strict about not allowing taping of their play with their phone. From reading this article, I now know a good reason why they restrict it (first time violators receive a warning before getting thrown out of the casino for subsequent offenses).

Mr. Munchkin, there is another article that was published today (heard it from a poster on videopoker dot com forums to give credit where its due) on Wired that closely relates to the topic to the topic posted..
