“I only lost one time playing blackjack in CA casinos” I hope that is an exaggeration or Bob and Richard need to make sure guests are vetted closer.
I think they were referring to when the casinos first opened and they were still learning how to deal card games. 2-1 blackjack promos used to be common and sometimes that meant they would pay you twice, which is actually 3-1 blackjack. And if you tipped, everyone was really friendly and in your favor. What’s amazing is that the casinos actually made tons of money, because they attracted crowds of customers most of whom were more than willing to just hand over their money without looking into the details. Everyone was having fun.
Also, hopefully everyone understood Richard’s explanation of how to correctly hit a 17 when you know the dealer has an 18. That’s definitely an expert level play.
Even if you could catch the holecard every time perfect and count cards, and get several mispays it still doesn’t mean you never lose. Under those conditions you have a nice edge but still have ups and downs. Even a 10 percent edge can still beat you up pretty good sometimes.
