Mathboy had plenty of interesting stories, which I’d love to hear more of in another episode, but this podcast was really difficult to listen to because he kept going from barely audible to incredibly loud just seconds apart over and over. There were so many pieces where I simply could not understand the words being spoken. Add in the mumbly vocal impressions of dumb casino employees, and it got even worse. I liked the guest though, just wished I could have heard the entirety of his stories. If you have a 3rd episode, buy him a neck brace , strap him in the chair and point it toward the microphone
I agree. A lot of the stories this time were also confusing to me. Maybe some of it is because I’m not deep in the AP world, so I’m missing context or experience. But the rapid-fire and scattered nature of a lot of the stories, combined with the slightly unclear audio, often left me lost when it came to understanding the details. For a number of the stories, I got only a vague sense of what was happening.
Idk I listened on iPhone speaker and caught everything. Great stories. Appreciate that he’s got perspective from both sides; both what made him happy working and why he’s satisfied being retired.
I agree with Phil and MCS. One of the toughest podcasts to listen to. Mathboy has some good stories but is a circular storyteller. The audio was poor.
These are good types of guests. Keep it up Bob and Richard.

I’ve really enjoyed both MathBoy podcasts. I’ve done a lot of AP stuff with MathBoy, and it was fun hearing him reminisce.
The 007 roulette promo was one of my all-time faves, not just because of the profitability, but also because of the preparation challenges it presented. I was part of MathBoy’s group for that one. We had successfully played a few other Casino-on-net promos, usually blackjack-pays-2:1. We’d always done well and had always been paid promptly. But this one was different.
First of all, we worried about whether they’d be able to pay us, even if the promo was on the up-and-up. 2-1 on roulette is about a 45% edge. Everyone in the world was able to play it, so what were the chances Casino-on-Net could survive the promo? How much money were we willing to send them ahead of time so that we could play the promo, given the risk that they might go under, taking our deposits with them? At the same time, we wanted to send them enough so that we could make substantial bets. We decided that $10K was all we could stomach, yet would allow us to make good sized bets.
Second, there’s always the worry about cheating. We decided that we would all be on Messenger so that we could communicate when anybody hit a 00 or 7. We’d start with $25 bets and see if anyone hit before raising our bets. And we worked out a detailed flow chart that said how many spins we would do before first dropping down to $10, and then, if still no hits after “n” more spins, giving it up.
I remember that we were almost at the agreed upon limit for making $25 bets, and no one had hit. On the brink of lowering our bets, MathBoy got the first one, and someone else hit almost immediately afterward. We raised our bets to 2 x $100 and took off. We banged away, and four of us went broke before the end (remember, they didn’t credit the 007 bonuses until after the play.), but one guy did well enough to raise his bets to 2 x $150. We cleared about $340K. Yeah, some other groups did better, but I was amazed and a little proud that our group of 6 had taken 8% of the entire world’s profit from that promo.
