    In Regards to RWNY:

    1) The closest racino to Manhattan is actually Empire City, which was recently purchased by MGM.
    2) I’ve walked the VP selection in RW and Empire city multiple times, there are no VP machines that do not have the “No skill” placard on them. That includes the high limit areas.
    3) I believe Mr. Dancer is correct about that 94% because the pay tables for the machines and play are not reflective of my actual experiences at places like AC or Delaware where there are “real” VP machines. So, for example, in both JoB(9/6) and BP (8/5) the straight flushes pay far more than expected (300 and 400 respectively 5 coin play). However; it is a myth (thus far in my experience) that the machine will “make sure you win” if you throw away a “winning” hand. What it does do is pop up a little genie that will “randomly” appear and change various cards to make, for example, a high pair into a flush.

This genie appears more often on high variance games and/or if a player plays VERY badly. If you play “perfectly” you will see the genie IF and ONLY IF you’re having extremely negative variance (which will happen because 94% return). Hence by turning losing hands into winning hands and some winning hands into higher paying hands, the player’s return is seen over the long run.

I listened to this show this morning. For what it’s worth I purchased from Barnes and Noble and read the Sex Lies and Video Poker last year. I would certainly commit to purchasing a sequel in the unlikely event that one gets written.

I enjoy gambling stories and I thought they were worth reading. I’d recommend others to read them.
