Loved the show! There are a few more extras that you get with the Alaska Airlines card. With your annual renewal you receive a companion fair good anywhere Alaska Airlines flies. For $99 dollars plus taxes ($118) you can take a companion on any trip you make once a year. Alaska Airlines owns Hawaiian Airlines so the pass works on those trips as well. If you fly enough to make MVP Gold (40k Miles) you also get the ability to change flights for you and passengers booked through your account with no change fees, a special concierge, extra bag allowances. So for example if you and your spouse both get a card, you can take a trip with 4 for the price of 2 + $236, change flights dates multiple times, possibly get free upgrades to first class, and get up to 3 bags each with no extra charges. The companion fare does not require you to be the primary passenger as long as you book through your account. Good luck and thanks for the shows.
Rich,
Glad you enjoyed the show. Alaska Air companion fare is a good deal if you are paying for your flights. I have become spoiled by Southwest companion fare. I can use rapid reward miles to pay for the primary flight and use the companion fare to pay for the second flight. To me, this is the best airfare deal out there.
Update on Autoslash.com
In the past, I have recommended booking a rental car with one of the websites for rental cars (carrentals.com, expedia.com, Costco.com) and then putting that information into autoslash.com. It has been my experience that this method produced better results than booking the original rental directly with autoslash.
I don’t know if autoslash.com made changes to their booking tool or I was just an unfortunate outlier, but I did some testing and booking directly with autoslash.com will now produce the lowest rate available. I will test it a few more times before I totally abandon every other rental car site but I am pretty confident that booking directly with autoslash.com will produce the best results.
This method now saves you even more time. Go to autoslash.com, punch in your travel request and let them do the rest. They will check rates up until your pick up date to find you the lowest fare. It’s a great service and the price is right. Free.
