Dear Richard and Bob,
Love your show! You mentioned in this episode that James Grosjean personally vetted the purchasers of his previous books. Will this kind of vetting also occur for his upcoming Ultimate Report: Lockdown Edition? And if so, is there a way to “apply” so that those of us who are interested in purchasing a copy can have an opportunity to make the case to James that we are worthy of being allowed to buy the book?
Thanks!
You answered mail from someone asking about a variant of UTH where you can only bet 3x pre-flop. I’ve never seen such a variant where all the other rules of UTH are the same, but there is a very similar game called Heads Up Hold’Em that is almost exactly the same, but offers a bad beat bonus that partially makes up for the 3x pre-flop bet. There are, I think, 4 different pay tables for the bad beat bonus, but I’ve only ever seen the worst one out in the wild, with a house edge of >4%. Basic strategy is a bit different pre-flip, but essentially identical afterwards. That said, I would avoid the HUH variant for the same reason is avoid 6:5 blackjack: you can play the same game elsewhere with better odds.
