Our guest this week is named Veganmav. We talk about his starting with $2.50 during the internet poker boom, and building that bankroll to mid seven figures. And yes, he still eats out of dumpsters.

The recommendation from Veganmav was for raspberry pi-hole, not raspberry pi. pi-hole is the protection he discussed. Raspberrypi is a hobbyist computer platform that can run lots of different software but does not include the ad blocking Veganmav recommended. I’m not sure where to get the device he recommended, but the software is discussed at pi-hole.net.
The descriptions that Veganmav gave us sound interesting if you’re smart but still feel that life is not working for you the way you want it and you’re trying to get things going.
Reminds me a little bit of these people checking out the tables in the card room looking for tables with enough suckers at the table to make it worthwhile playing. I keep a good eye on those guys always because they have a big red alert light at the top of their head. These people are the ones that I try to avoid and they give away enough information that they’re probably grinders or professionals. I can only give action to a pro if I have super strong hand myself and then it becomes difficult for a pro to beat my hand especially when it’s all-in preflop.
I understand that not everybody likes to do a regular job and is squeezing out his existence by finding other sources of income. Not so sure if it works for the rest of your life. It’s great that Veganmav realized that getting a good education in the long run is the save way to go. Like having a good day job and playing poker besides. I wouldn’t want to change my life with one of those grinders that play at the Venetian day-to-day and hope to take out the ignorant amateurs. Even to them it’s a hard way to make a living. More dangerous and hard to spot are the players that are one level up in this regards. I saw regulars dressing up nicely and looking like tourists when they go to play poker on the weekends on the Strip. At least this camouflage trick may work against tourists who think that they’re up against other tourists. If you play more than 1 week in Vegas you quickly find out who is who and then these “super pros” can no longer be a thread to you.
