Travel and Birthday savings

March 10, 2020 2 Comments Written by Jimmy Jazz

The corona virus is the hottest news topic lately. This post isn’t to discuss the Corona 19 virus but to discuss how it is affecting travel and travel costs. I have a trip to Las Vegas on 3/19 – 3/24. Because March Madness is going on, rental car prices were pretty high. I was around $250 for the 5 days. I just rebooked for $175. I’m sure the Corona Virus is a leading factor. Southwest airfares have recently dropped as well. I suggest looking at any Southwest flights you have booked and check to see if the price has decreased. Since there are no cancel fees or rebooking fees, it’s an easy way to save some money. Also, put your your current rental car information into www.autoslash.com and see if you can score a better rate. I think there will be a lot of prices being lowered as you get closer to the pick up date. You might have to rebook a couple of times but there are savings to be had.

On the birthday front, here is a new one. My wife is buying a new Samsung s10e for $599 plus a $50 unlock fee from Best Buy. Because she is a best buy rewards program member, she got a birthday offer for 10% off select purchases. The cell phone qualified. There is an extra $60 we didn’t expect.

I have a trip scheduled from 25 Mar till 30 Mar. I have changed my flight 3 times on Southwest because they keep reducing the price. Plus I got a better flight. I have been looking at Autoslash, but rates there have not changed much.

My autoslash.com rental has dropped from $250 to $175 for 3/19 – 3/24. Also, my Delta flight ( one way) has dropped from $338 to $98. And Delta is waiving cancel/rebook fees. The bargains are out there if you want to travel.
