No, the methods described here won’t provide you with an advantage—and that point is made clear within—but they’re reasonable ways to play when the emphasis is on entertainment. Mixed in is good advice on playing games with better rules, e.g., a single-zero game (-2.70%) is better than a double-zero (-5.26%). Not mentioned here is the trend toward triple-zero wheels (-7.69%). No bueno!

This article is for you even if you have played roulette for a long time or are just picking it up now or in a few hours.
I have gathered some roulette players, each with his or her own ideas of how to play and how to manage their finances.
But just a few words from me as we begin.
These are players who know themselves and understand the game. I have avoided the wild players who just throw their money around with no sense or concept of what the game they are playing is all about. The big drinkers I have not bothered with because with a little booze comes too much of a lack of inhibition. Some inhibition is good for players.

There is absolutely zero chance to beat roulette and win, unless the player is attempting illegal action, that is ….late betting, moving other players chips before the game is over (if allowed to play with cash chips inside the field) or finding a very weak dealer who is not able to calculate the payouts properly. All of the 3 ways mentioned are not ethical and in my opion not the way to do. I therefore consider roulette as a pure game of chance at which you can play to have fun. Once in a while you get lucky, if you get lucky…..my advise is…..run !!!

Agree. Roulette is a negative-expectation game that can’t be beaten “on the square.” There are situations — e.g., tournaments, matchplay, promotions — and some sophisticated technological approaches by which an advantage can be found, but it’s mostly a game to play for fun, which I think is the point of this article.
I find it interesting that some Las Vegas based casinos have invented the new roulette with 3x zero (-7.69%). As if double-zero games are not tough enough to win at, they added another nasty number to the game. Comes a little late but together with 6:5 on black jack at some casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, it gives another point of discussion.
Too bad that it’s not so easy to change the odds on baccarat or craps. Which may explain that those 2 games are still very popular there. I see all those added side bets on baccarat, which makes be believe that there are the hidden extra percentages the house wants. If you bet only the pass line on craps with full odds plus banker on baccarat, your chances to win (or lose at a slower pace) are still intake.

I found it quite cute that someone said, ‘I stay away from the proposition bets on the outside.
Every single wager on a Double Zero wheel has the exact same house edge of 5.26%
Inside, outside, single numbers, corners, splits, streets, avenues / boulevards – they all effectively the same long term.
(Yeah, there’s a 5 number wager that is even worse, but it’s rarely played.)
It’s a nice and slow game that’s easy to play. Make sure the pit boss and the cocktail waitress know you’re playing, and you’ll be okay…
