Questions. We get lots and lots of questions.
Is there a city or state law requiring a patron having to show identification before entering a hotel/casino in Las Vegas? It happened to me two different times on my last trip to Las Vegas.
No. There's no law, policy, or even protocol that requires showing ID to enter a casino. It's a property-by-property decision. Famously, Circa opened with the requirement in an effort to "prevent those under 21 from entering, allowing for smoother operations for those inside the property," according to owner Derek Stevens. We've also been asked for ID on the way into Stevens' other downtown casinos, the D and Golden Gate. Silver Sevens also started checking IDs at its entrances recently. But the vast majority of Las Vegas casinos don't want to introduce any impediment between their gaming floors and their customers' wallets.
Can you come to Las Vegas by train from Ohio?
No. You can't come to Las Vegas from anywhere by train. You might at some point, if the Brightline high-speed connection from southern California is ever completed. Currently, you haven't been able to step off a train in Las Vegas since 1997, when the Desert Wind Amtrak service from Chicago, stopping in Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Las Vegas, before terminating in L.A., stopped running after 18 years.
Is valet parking available at casinos yet?
Yes. Valet parking has returned to all Las Vegas casinos, at least that we know of. And last we checked, valet parking was free at the Tropicana (non-event days), Treasure Island, Sahara, STRAT, and Venetian.
