Just opened in late July, Exxcite: The Show<\/em> is a late-night burlesque-style revue that features six female dancers and a singer. It\u2019s produced and choreographed by Jennifer Romas, well known in Vegas for her topless show Sexxy<\/em>, which played for years at the Westgate Cabaret, then for a while as Sexxy After Dark<\/em> at Larry Flynt\u2019s Hustler Club. This new show is staged in the 300-seat Duomo Theater at the Rio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Exxcite<\/em> is billed as \u201cslightly indecent journey into sensuality with a rock \u2019n\u2019 roll vibe.\u201d The dancers are athletic, acrobatic, and noticeably classically trained, but they\u2019re not topless, except for two brief interludes, one seen from the back and the other behind feather fans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every number is a costume change: calf-length red-leather boots, thigh-length white-leather boots, full-length black-leather chaps, capes, wands, and more, almost all of them come down to G strings, though the sexiest, to us, are the tight tops with bare midriffs. Meanwhile, most strippers only dream about these moves \u2014 on stationary and portable poles, a simulated motorcycle seat, chairs, a baroque throne, and a lip-shaped sofa, plus the always crowd-pleasing two girls in a claw-foot tub. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highlight of Exxcite<\/em> is the dancer in a skimpy neon-yellow outfit doing gymnastics on a neon yellow ring suspended from the ceiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The singer, Vegas-newcomer Gabie Lopez, doubles as the emcee and is as engaging in several audience-participation segments as she is sexy in her own right, with a set of pipes that will no doubt take her far in the Entertainment Capital.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music is definitely a journey through rock \u2019n\u2019 roll. We didn\u2019t recognize every number, but the ones we did definitely enhanced our enjoyment of the show: \u201cI Get Off\u201d by Haelstorm, \u201cAmerican Woman\u201d (the Lenny Kravitz cover), \u201cThis House Is on Fire\u201d by AC\/DC, \u201cTainted Love\u201d the Soft Cell version, \u201cS&M\u201d by Rihanna, \u201cHelp Me Get Away from Myself\u201d from Nine Inch Nails, and on and on. And the light show never quits throughout the 75-minute performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the seats have good sightlines, though the closer to the front you get, the more your vision might be blocked by people in front of you. We bought the least expensive tickets and were moved up front, though the more this show catches on, the less likely that will be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t look for signs to the Duomo Theater; it\u2019s not on a single one. It\u2019s in the back of Masquerade Village as part of the Cupola Caf\u00e9 complex. It hosts small shows: the Chi-Lites featuring Marshall Thompson, the Limoncello rock \u2018n\u2019 roll band, Cotton Club Revue<\/em> with a Moms Mabley impersonator, plus Exxcite<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hope Exxcite <\/em>makes it; it\u2019s a fine updated version of the classic Crazy Girls<\/em> to get singles pumped up for the rest of their night out and couples exxcited on their way to bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show plays Sat., Sun., and Mon. at 10 p.m. only; tickets are listed as $61.57 to $137.77, but they’re discounted everywhere. We paid $38.49, plus taxes and fees, for a total of $58.83.
