Michael Shackleford<\/strong> took after his father with an interest in math, and after graduating from the University of California-Santa Barbara, landed a job as an actuary for the Social Security Administration, where he largely analyzed effects of changes in the Social Security laws. While working as an actuary for the SSA, Shackleford introduced his popular gambling website, Wizardofodds.com, which took on a life of its own. In 2000 he left his government job to devote full time to the website and a consulting business for the gambling industry.
