Revel: It was all downhill from here

Yeah, Beyoncé is a hard act to follow but who knew that Revel would fall so far, so fast? So enjoy this brief moment when things looked so very promising* …  in the meantime, I’m running down leads on some oldies but goodies: the Klondike Sunset, the arson-ravaged Key Largo, scrapped Southern Highlands Casino and North Coast, plus a plethora of unrealized Station Casinos projects — with a cameo appearance by Michael Gaughan as The Man. S&G associate blogger Jeff_in_OKC paid us a visit recently. We shed half a tear for the fate of the Western Casino and had an excellent dinner at Ellis Island. No wonder the latter is a “Top Ten” regular in Las Vegas Advisor. For quality, quantity and price it’s super-strong.

* — I stumbled across this promotional film while looking for video clips of Dutch jazz singer Trijntje Oosterhuis, so the hand of Fate must have been at work.
