My wife and I have just returned from four days’ vacation in Kanab, Utah. We spent our time there volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, where we washed dishes, folded laundry, picked up poop, fed the inhabitants and socialized with cats, puppies and pigs. Since I haven’t been able to upload any of the photos I took (I am only slightly better than Sheldon Adelson at using a multi-functional cell phone), I thought I’d share this brand-new National Dog Day video from one of my favorite hotels, Delano, taken from the somewhat manic point of view of one of our furry friends. Speaking of which, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary allows cat, dog and rabbit sleepovers, of which we took full advantage. We bonded so closely with one 18-year-old cat, Edward, that it broke our hearts to return him. (Extenuating circumstance: We have four cats at home.) A visit to Best Friends restoreth the soul and I recommend it highly to anyone.

We adopted two rescue dogs this summer. I forgot how much fur a dog sheds in the summer!
I read you frequently, and I seem to remember maybe 8 years ago or so you found a small kitten on a freeway on-ramp. I want to move to Las Vegas and I wanted to ask you (#1) if you had a good vet recommendation, and (#2) if you kept the kitten and how it was. Thanks.
