Las Vegas is beaten at its own game …

Royal Casino SPA & Hotel Resort from Vivid Cafe on Vimeo.

… by Riga? I want to hop the next plane to Latvia after seeing this extremely sexy short film (approx. 7 minutes) showcasing the Royal Spa & Casino, which appears to be the Baltic equivalent of M Resort, right down to the Cohiba-smoking douchebag who is the co-protagonist. Although the promo spot low-keys the gambling aspect of Royal Casino, I’d imagine it’s doing bang-up business now that casinos in neighboring Russia consist of one grind joint way out in the sticks.

In any event, Royal has clearly studied its Las Vegas progenitors well, as the names of some of its amenities suggest. By comparison, this new ad for Mandalay Bay, while plenty impressive in its own context, looks hackneyed.

However, you have to give that ad props for eschewing the old cliché of showing the dealer looking delighted that some guy has just taken the house for a big score — especially since the pit boss is probably about to come over and kick him in the ankle, in time-honored Vegas “motivational” fashion.
