Since we didn’t have one yesterday, today there are two, in the form of a de facto debate:
“There is this odd mismatch between countries like Germany that you mention, and Britain, where we have an established church. And yet in America, where there’s absolutely no established church and a very strong constitutional prohibition against an established church, it’s the most religious country this side of the Middle East.” — biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins, interviewed during a recent appearance at South Point. (Amazingly, local news accounts failed to mention where the event took place.)
“And that’s really what’s happening in this country is a violation of the First Commandment. We have become a country entrenched in idolatry, and that idolatry is the dependency upon our government. We’re supposed to depend upon God for our protection and our provision and for our daily bread, not for our government.” — Nevada senate candidate and Christian Reconstructionist Sharron Angle, interviewed by TruNews Christian Radio. (She also recently told a Christian PAC she would “favor laws that restrict the production, sale, and distribution of pornography.” Enjoy those “Girls Gone Wild” videos while you still can!)

We depended on God until we had a government to depend on.
Weeks have now gone by with Sharron Angle not having to field a tough follow-up question from any member of the media. This is what you get when the questions are from “friendly” media. The obvious follow-up question of who gets to determine what “pornography” truly is gets left unanswered, because that would be quite controversial. Meanwhile the entire country is in an economic crises… Wouldn’t know that from the issues important to Ms. Angle like censorship and allowing clergy to promote political candidates from the pulpit.
Mike A –
Don’t forget that she still hasn’t explained her plans for the disembowelment of Medicare & Social Security, or how her “flat tax” plan would work in the absence of an Internal Revenue department.
Hey I just googled my name and it brought this up. Im just curious where there is another Mike Alexakis. Growning up I have always had the weird last name. Its nice to know that someone out there is my name twin! I wonder is we are related in some way?
Hey mike: Are you related to Art Alexakis of the rock band Everclear? He is a distant cousin of mine. My grandfather re-immigrated to Los Angeles in 1934. Settled in Boyle Heights. Our last name is not so uncommon in Greece I am told. Cheers!
