“Sahara is a dirty hell hole. This is all you need to know.” — Vegas Tripping, naming the minaret-topped casino the worst on the Strip. Congratulations to Sam Nazarian and new minority owner Colony Capital, which really knows how to pick ’em. (Readers’ pick: Imperial Palace, although Caesars Palace fared surprisingly poorly.) With a slew of readers’ and editors’ nods, Wynncore beat off all comers for the Best in Show trophy … except for that Web site issue.

Ha!. I think the Vegas Tripping guys tend to over-state some of their negative reviews on any place; however, I still love their passion!
BTW, I tend to agree. Why Colony is getting mixed up in this one is beyond me. Are they feeling a little “small” since Barry Sternlicht got a hold of the Sahara’s neighbor (Riv)? I know how these guys in real estate play the game. I work for one!
Not even close IMHO. At least at the Sahara you can breath a little. Imperial Palace has a unique combination smell of stale smoke mixed with decaying gambler flesh. My large family contingent went to the car museum, and on the way out we all broke into a Ben Johnson steroid-induced all out sprint for the front door! Nobody got hurt fortunately, and I can report that 110 degree fresh air never tasted better. It suprised me that Hash House A Go Go opened at IP!
The Strip is still The Strip so it’s got to be worth something. Later rather than sooner someone will do something great with the Echelon and/or Fontainbleau property and the North Strip will rise again. I just hope that the Sahara lasts that long and doesn’t fall even further.
