Mr. Captain of Industry there is Allen R. Glick (1942- ), front man for the infamous Stardust skim. I’ll be spending some quality time with Mr. Glick’s curriculum vitae this afternoon, as he’s to be the subject of a forthcoming “Question of the Day.” Glick may look like typecasting for the role of Evil Mastermind but history — abetted by the movie Casino — has filed him under “Hapless Dupe.” For now, let’s just say that if he hadn’t screwed up so spectacularly then we might never have had Las Vegas‘ subsequent rise is Middle America’s destination of choice.

Ironically, I was just googling him the other night after taking in a “Casino” viewing. I was curious to know what he is up to now, if he was banned from gaming in NV etc. Interesting guy…although apparently he did not know a thing! Should be a good read.
I surely do miss the Stardust! Besides the gambling, I got the best haircut in my life there one day.
Do you think Boyd Gaming regrets trying to copy City Center?
If they had waited until City Center was finished to decide to tear it down, they would still be making them slot bucks of money there.
I’m sure Boyd would never *admit* it was too hasty in demolishing the Stardust but I’ve no doubt they think it on a regular basis.
Incidentally, the Glick bio was a real monster. It’ll have to run as a two-part Question of the Day.
