As he will tell anybody who listens, Wynn Resorts CEO Steve Wynn is not only a Las Vegan but a Las Vegas vegan. There’s no zealot like a convert and Wynn (the only casino boss to whom the term “genius” can be applied without exaggeration) has been applying the vegan aesthetic to Wynncore with a vengeance, as you shall see …
At least Steve Wynn and S&G share the same taste in shirts.
Since this filmlet has received fewer than one-twentieth the eyeballs drawn to the notorious wedding video (the invited guests may have been obliged to laugh but must have been squirming inside), I thought we’d give it some S&G love, see if we can drive those page views higher. And Steve, I hear where you’re coming from but I’ll never be able to give up my carnivorous lifestyle, even if kills me — which it probably will.
With the exception of Encore, no casino interior in Vegas has the visual excitement of The Cosmopolitan. Words are superfluous when confronted by images like these, so I’ll just STFU, and allow you to bask in the tasteful orgy of colors and textures.
Concluding our irregular Friday Film Festival, we’ll never know (thank God) what a Donald Trump presidency would have been like … or do we?
The brilliant minds behind SCTV imagined something very much like a Trump presidency — 34 years ago. Besides, life without SCTV would be a mistake.
Finally, on a serious note, analysts on Wall Street keep babbling month after month about “pent-up demand” that’s just gonna flood the gaming sector … and which stubbornly faces to un-pent itself. Hey, Wall Street, here’s your “pent-up demand”! If Boomers are postponing retirement in order to help your children financially, then it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why even when people are coming back to Las Vegas, they’re still spending less.

Thanks for the SCTV video. What a great show, hopefully I can find SCTV on Comedy Central sometime soon.
Mr. Wynn’s conversion and preaching of veganism is annoying, there just isn’t anyway around it, as you pointed out, there is no zealot like a converted one.
The sad thing is though, that his fanaticism over it potentially interrupts the value this brings. Mr. Wynn is right that the Las Vegas food scene has lacked any real Vegan or Vegetarian options for some time. I can remember back during first trips with the wife, that a large part of my planning (and headaches) was trying to locate some sound options outside of a good salad bar at the buffet. It wasn’t easy and still really just focused on salads.
It’s a nice step that he’s trying to bring some of that to his restaurants at the resorts, I hope though, that people aren’t turned off by the preaching and that they make some money on it, as it would be a welcome trend to see it at some more affordable places as well, as options, not as a complete menu re-write, which I sometimes fear Mr. Wynn believes needs to be done.
I think you are 100% correct jinx. Steve Wynn does not think in the same way that ordinary people do. He will envision this vegan mecca of $75 entrees and $18 sides with waterfall views instead of just adjusting the menus of the existing restaurants.
