“When a buffoon such as Donald Trump can flirt with running for president, and receive chin-stroking coverage, you know something’s gone wrong. Trump must have thought it was hilarious. And he didn’t have to spend a penny for all that PR.” — The Guardian’s Richard Adams on the metamorphosis of presidential politics into a means of leveraging book and TV deals.

Buffoon, but no idiot!
Wow. Maybe he should reconsider. The “buffoon” sure has the libs stired up.
Maybe I am a child of the sixties, Pat, but I always thought politics and Presidential elections were about more than “stirring” up the opposition. I’m alot more interested in what a candidate will do on January 21st than poking someone in the eye.
If you’ve got access to “Mad Men” Season 4, I highly recommend the bonus feature that juxtaposes TV spots from the 1964 Johnson/Goldwater race. They’re unusually substantive by present-day standards, although the production values and visual style of the Goldwater ones look laughably outdated compared to LBJ’s ads. The late, great senator really should have sacked his ad firm.
Mike, that’s usually the talk one gets when they don’t want to talk issues. By the way a product of the 60’s too.
Yes Pat, The Donald does indeed have “issues”. Too many to list, might crash Davids servers…
