In Asian cultures, safety protocols like wearing a face mask are routine—they’ve dealt with viral outbreaks in the past, it’s not unusual,” gaming consultant Andrew Klebanow told Global Gaming News. And though Covid-19 cases spiked at 17,000 in Singapore, Klebanow’s betting on it to recover faster than other, less-prepared jurisdictions. (Skeptics are postponing a full recovery until 2023.) In comparison to the city-state, Nevada “closed for 78 days, but we didn’t get much guidance from the CDC or the state for at least half that time, 45 days.” Heck, Singapore was erecting protective barriers and shutting slot machines and practicing social distancing before it went into casino lockdown. While some aspects of Singapore’s paternalistic society wouldn’t go down so well over here, there’s quite a bit to be learned from its proactive approach to Coronavirus in the casinos.

I just watched the video you posted, that is an articulate young man… Nevada needs to pay attention to Florida right now, Florida is also hugely reliant on tourism, they have no state income tax as well… Florida opened up way too early, and Florida has not been honest and open about the COVID statistics, its about to get very rotten in Florida… Keep an eye on the hospitals, in Florida its getting dire, you cant have tourism in your state if there are no hospital beds or staffing, yes COVID has a long gestation, but tourists have accidents and heart attacks too. Fortunately for Nevada you have an independent and sane Governor, he runs the state with the states interests front and center. I hope Las Vegas stays open, heck I hope Los Angeles stays open, but we all need to prepare for some bad case scenarios unfortunately…
The primary reason that Las Vegas might shut down is the fact that that it is not fun for the customer. Casinos are not set up for social distancing and the restrictions that have been put in place are a hassle and detract from the gaming experience. I think that casino patrons will tire of this and stop coming to casinos.
